2 Tons of Carbon Diverted = $2,347 to Local Nonprofits

Fortin Gage Flowers’ Vase Drive Diverts Nearly 2 Tons of Carbon While Raising $2,347 for Local Nonprofits
NASHUA, NH — What started as a simple invitation to clean out cabinets and give glass vases a second life turned into a powerful act of environmental stewardship and community care.
Through our recent Vase Drive, Fortin Gage Flowers collected 2,347 gently used vases, preventing nearly 2 metric tons of carbon emissions by keeping glass out of the waste stream and reducing the need for new manufacturing.

In addition to its environmental impact, the initiative generated $2,347 in direct financial support for local nonprofits, including The Nashua Senior Center, Meals On Wheels, Nashua Public Library, and Legacy Trust.
“This drive was about much more than vases,” said Amber Morgan, owner of Fortin Gage Flowers. “It gave homebound individuals a meaningful way to declutter. It allowed people on fixed incomes to directly support organizations that have supported them. And it showed how small, thoughtful actions can ripple outward in powerful ways.”
The Vase Drive created an accessible way for residents to participate in sustainability efforts while strengthening their connection to local services and small businesses. Each donated vase was reused, closing the loop between generosity, environmental responsibility, and community investment.
Fortin Gage Flowers continues to explore creative ways to combine sustainability with social impact, proving that flowers can do far more than brighten a room — they can strengthen a city.
